Nestled in the hills of the Oaxaca Valley, it's an ideal place to relax, wake up peacefully, enjoy a good cup of coffee, and contemplate the beautiful panoramic views surrounding the property.
Just 30 minutes from downtown Oaxaca and 15 minutes west of Oaxaca International Airport, Zaachila offers an authentic experience away from the hustle and bustle of the city. This Zapotec town welcomes visitors with the warmth of its people and a rich cultural heritage.
Discover its Zapotec ruins dating back to the Monte Albán era, enjoy the traditional Thursday market, and visit the Gastronomic Market to sample local specialties like goat barbacoa, rolled meat, empanadas, and other typical dishes. Finally, don't miss the traditional Zaachila ice cream, perfect for cooling down while you explore the flavors of the region.
The villages surrounding Zaachila boast a wealth of Zapotec artisan workshops. We can take you to a black clay workshop in San Bartolo Coyotepec and an alebrije workshop in San Martín Tilcajete.
And if you're looking for adventure and to connect with nature, we'll take you to Cascada la Reina, an hour from the house, where you can refresh yourself in its crystal-clear waters, eat trout or typical Oaxacan food, and if you like, stay one night in the cabins of their ecotourism project.
We are cyclists, and if you'd like, we can bring our bikes to ride along the mountain trails where we can see beautiful scenery. There are also many routes of varying difficulty near our house and throughout the Oaxaca Valley if you'd like to exercise. We can take you there, or we can rent our bikes for a small additional fee.
